
Blytheville Woman Dead & State Trooper Injured After Collision
Vickie Lynn Freemyer, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred at the intersection of State Highway 77 and Fleeman Street. The initial report of the crash was received by State Police at 9:51 AM.
The collision involved an Arkansas State Police patrol car driven by Trooper First Class Andrew Rhew, 30, of Manila. TFC Rhew was on-duty at the time of the collision and was southbound along State Highway 77.
TFC Rhew is a five-year veteran of the department assigned to the Highway Patrol Division, Troop C. Rhew was treated and released for injuries at a Jonesboro hospital.
Witness statements indicate Freemyer, the driver of the second vehicle, drove her vehicle westbound along Fleeman Street onto State Highway 77 and into the path of the State Police patrol car.
Colonel Winford E. Phillips, Director of the Arkansas State Police, has stated, "I am saddened for Freemyer family and our department grieves for their loss. Our prayers are with this family, as well as Trooper Rhew and his family."
